HOSTETLER, THABOUNE HONORED BY OAC

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – A pair of Capital University student-athletes were named as OAC Players of the Week in their respective sports on Monday.  Junior middle blocker Allison Hostetler (Dalton, Ohio/Dalton HS) earned honors on the volleyball side while junior midfielder Josh Thaboune (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley HS) was the men’s soccer honoree.

Hostetler led the Crusader volleyball team to 4-1 record last week including a perfect 4-0 record while earning All-Tournament honors at the Volley Against Violence Tournament over the weekend.  She tallied 46 kills overall in the five matches while hitting .337 with 17 blocks.  Hostetler reached double digits in kills three times including a 15-kill effort in a five-set loss to nationally-ranked NAIA power Mount Vernon Nazarene.

Thaboune scored twice including the game-winner in overtime as the Capital men’s soccer team upset #7 Ohio Wesleyan, 2-1 last Wednesday.  The junior is part of a Crusader men’s soccer team that is off to its best start in program history at 5-0-0 and has outscored its opposition 20-4 overall. CU’s won over OWU was its first ever in a series that dates back to 1975.
