What craziness these last two weeks have been!
If you all couldn't figure this out by Dustin's last blog, the leftovers from Hurricane Ike hit Ohio and hard!
Last week, about Sunday, I was sitting in my room watching a movie with some of my sisters when all of a sudden, my alarm turns off and the TV goes black. We thought it might have been a power surge, until 4 hours later when the power still hadn't come back on. So, when it came time for my sorority's meeting, we all grabbed some flashlights and discussed a few things, and then those of my sisters who lived on hall went creeping back up to the dark and scary third floor of Schaff. It was at that time we figured we needed sustenance, and since nothing was open in Bexley and the wind had died down, we drove over to OSU campus, where Kroger was still open.
Coming back to campus with a supply of Lunchables, mini-muffins, Goldfish, and lemonade, we settled a few friends into my room and ate and sang Kum-ba-yah around the flashlight, while accompanied on guitar.
Oh, you laugh at me? Laugh all you want, but I am dead serious. Ask anyone on third floor Schaff, they heard us.
The next day, we were told that the power was going to be off for awhile, so I decided to trek the three hours home and go visit my family and friends and pick up some things that I may have left at home.
But, now I am back here, and so very happy to be back up and working/studying/socializing again!
Classes have been going pretty well, and things have been going well on campus as well. Tonight, UP is putting on 'The Taste of Bexley', where various restaurants/food establishments will come together and set up booths for all of us college students to example. I am pumped.
Actually, at the moment, the Lord of the Wings is going on, put on by Up 'Til Dawn, and I am pretty sure there are some people stuffing their faces outside of the admissions office right now. : )
Hmmm...what advice can I offer this time around...I'm sure I have something I can offer all of you out in cyberspace..
Oh! Here's something.
I was talking to someone yesterday, and they told me that all their roommate did was sleep and study, never went out of the room. And then they said something that hit me.
"Why would you want to stay in your room when you have this beautiful campus?"
I have known this for awhile, but I never really thought much of it. I really do have a beautiful campus, as well as a beautiful town to live in and take my classes in. I've been to a lot of colleges, and I can honestly say that Capital is one of the prettiest campuses that I've ever seen.
And why wouldn't you want to take advantage of that? Go outside, play frisbee, go on a walk through Bexley, if it's sunny, go tanning, if it's snowing, go build a fort or have a snowball war! When you have something this beautiful given to you to use for recreation purposes, use it! I know I go for walks through Bexley a lot, and it is very relaxing and very enjoyable to talk with a friend while walking, or maybe just listening to music on your iPod.
That's all I have for you on this day of September 24th, 2008.
Love and happiness,
xoxoheather
