CANAL WINCHESTER, Ohio – The host Crusader women’s golf team finished sixth out of eight teams at its own 18-hole Capital Fall Invitational on Saturday at Westchester Golf Club.
Capital finished with a team score of 367, which was six shots behind fifth place Heidelberg (361). Northwestern Ohio won the team championship in a playoff after tying Ohio Dominican with identical scores of 338. Walsh finished third at 340 while Urbana was fourth at 344.
Senior Emily Fothergil (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley HS) paced the Crusaders by finishing with a 41 on the front nine and 44 on the back side to total 85, which was good for a tie of ninth place individually out of 45 golfers.
Freshman Becca Borges (Wapakoneta, Ohio/Wapakoneta HS) placed 23rd overall after carding an 89 while classmate Natalie Reddaway (Sandusky, Ohio/Perkins HS) was two shots back in 25th place at 91.
Fellow freshman Hannah Zebarah (Temperance, Mich./Bedford HS) tied for 33rd place by firing at 102 while sophomore Kelsey Moorman (Celina, Ohio/Celina HS) shot a 105 to tie for 37th position.
Two Crusaders competed as individuals on the day as junior Elise Duplin (Canton, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas HS) was 41st individually with a 109 and classmate Mackenzi Thompson (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton HS) finished 42nd with a score of 112.
Capital will return to action next weekend at the 36-hole Ohio Dominican Invitational held at Cumberland Trail Golf Course.
