(COLUMBUS, Ohio) - Junior middle hitter Allison Hostetler (Dalton, Ohio/Dalton HS) had a match-high 16 kills as Capital University's volleyball team swept visiting Baldwin-Wallace College (25-19, 25-18, 25-22) Wednesday in Capital's Ohio Athletic Conference home opener.
Hostetler had four kills in the first set, seven in the second and five in the third set to lead the Crusaders. Senior Jackie Helm (Lancaster, Ohio/Fisher Catholic HS) added 12 kills with a .524 hitting percentage and 20 digs, and senior Kelly Steineman (New Bremen, Ohio/New Bremen) recorded eight kills.
As a team, Capital (17-4, 1-1 OAC) outhit the Yellow Jackets (8-10, 0-2 OAC) .287 to .139, including .298 to .017 in the first set. Junior libero Sara Doebel (Clyde, Ohio/Clyde HS) had 15 digs, while senior setter Kara Guster (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville HS) had 12 digs and 23 assists.
The Crusaders, winners of three straight, have won 12 matches in straight sets this season. They will hit the road for the first of four consecutive OAC contest away from The Capital Center when they play at Wilmington at 1 p.m. Saturday.
