Hey everyone!! Sorry I haven’t written in so long, I’ve been super busy with everything!
So today is the second day of October (my favorite month :D ) and it definitely felt like fall here in Bexley. Fall is my absolute favorite season; I loved how cool it was today and the fact that I got to wear jeans and a long sleeve shirt. I also can’t wait for the leaves on campus to start changing colors; it’s always so beautiful here! I know what you’re thinking, technically it isn’t fall yet, but it’s definitely on its way!! Soon everyone’s going to start craving hot apple cider (which they served in the Capital Court yesterday, and was delicious :D ), looking for Halloween costumes, and decorating for the season! I know that my roommate and I already have some of our decorations ready from last year to put on our door for this year!
This weekend is Capital’s Homecoming, so we have lots of events planned for the weekend. Festivities kicked off tonight with the annual Homecoming Block Party on Mound Street! The Block Party, planned by University Programming, took place of the usual Wicked Wednesday at Capital. Tonight Mojoflo performed and the 2008 Homecoming Court was announced. Congratulations to Marta Diehm, Janet Lewis, Molly Ward, Whitney Linley, Lea Barker, Chuck Shockey, Tony Franco, Taylor Police, Ryan Stiers, and Brian Peck for making court! On Saturday, Capital will welcome its alumni back to campus with all sorts of activities. For students, we will also have a Homecoming Dance, on Saturday night, featuring Salsa Magic! This year’s theme for the dance is “Dancing with the Stars”, so students are encouraged to come as their favorite star! On one last homecoming note, I’d like to wish the Crusaders good luck this weekend in their game against Marietta!
On a more personal note, I changed my major on Friday! Instead of being an English Literature major, I am now officially an English: Professional Writing major. So that’s something really exciting. I felt that being a Professional Writing major fit better with what I wanted to do with my life, so I’m extremely happy to have switched! It also helps that switching your major here is really easy! Other than that, I have been really busy with school work, as well as, work, and my meetings for the different organizations that I am part of.
Top Five Things to do in the Month of October:
1)Go to the Circleville Pumpkin Show in Circleville, Ohio---- It’s always a lot of fun and they have more pumpkin things then you could ever imagine!
2)Do an hour of community service----- Fall is the best time to do community service because it’s so nice outside. You can do anything from rake leaves to Halloween Patrol for kids who are trick-or-treating. At Capital, the CSLD office always has service opportunities that you can take advantage of.
3)Visit a haunted house----Or for those who don’t like haunted houses, take a hayride. There’s nothing like a hayride or haunted house to welcome in the fall.
4)Make a new friend---- You can never have too many! :D
5)Enjoy the fact that the weather is getting colder--- Unlike me, not a lot of people like the cold weather, so make the most of it! If anything it’s an excuse to buy a new, albeit extremely cute, fall jacket!
I wish you all a wonderful October! Until next time, remember that if you have any questions, comments are always more than welcome!!
