WILMINGTON, Ohio – Visiting Capital had 13 different players see action in a 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-16, 25-14) victory over Ohio Athletic Conference foe Wilmington on Saturday afternoon. With its second straight OAC victory, Capital improved to 18-4 overall and 2-1 in the OAC.
Junior middle blocker Allison Hostetler (Dalton, Ohio/Dalton HS) led a potent Crusader offense with 19 kills while hitting at a .395 clip with seven blocks.
Overall, Capital out hit Wilmington .331 to .290 as the duo of Kara Guster (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville HS) and Jenna Zumberger (DeGraff, Ohio/Fairlawn HS) posted 25 and 21 assists respectively. Guster also had 10 digs while Zumberger added six digs and two kills.
Senior Kelly Steinman (New Bremen, Ohio/New Bremen HS) finished with 10 kills while swinging .500 with one block and one service ace. She was aided by nine kills, 25 digs, three service aces and two blocks by classmate Jackie Helm (Lancaster, Ohio/Fisher Catholic HS).
Junior Jenifer Fekpe (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson HS) also had nine kills to go along with three blocks while hitting at a .409 clip.
Libero Sara Doebel (Clyde, Ohio/Clyde HS) added 21 digs defensively for Capital which will travel to Mount Union for an OAC match on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
