GRANVILLE, Ohio - Capital University's volleyball team scored a pair of non-conference wins over the College of Wooster and Denison University in a tri-match in Granville Saturday.
The Crusaders improved to 21-5 on the season, marking the eighth consecutive season that the program has won at least 20 matches.
Capital defeated Wooster in straight sets, 25-10, 25-17, 25-11. Senior Kelly Steineman (New Bremen, Ohio/New Bremen HS) led the Crusaders with eight kills, while fellow senior Jackie Helm (Lancaster, Ohio/Fisher Catholic HS) added seven kills and six digs, and classmate Kara Guster (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville HS) had a team-best 16 assists.
In the second match, junior Jenifer Fekpe (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson HS) had 14 kills to lead the Crusaders to a 3-1 victory over the Big Red (25-19, 18-25, 25-19, 25-20). Junior Allison Hostetler (Dalton, Ohio/Dalton HS) tallied nine kills and Steineman had seven kills and seven total blocks.
The Crusaders resume Ohio Athletic Conference play at 7 p.m. Tuesday at John Carroll University.
