CRUSADER HARRIERS CONTINUE SEASON AT WILMINGTON FALL INVITATIONAL

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Capital University cross country teams had another good day as they took part in the Wilmington College Fall Invitational on Friday afternoon.  The CU women placed 11th out of 24 teams while the men were 13th out of 23 teams.

 

Senior Shelly Gaines (Grove City,Ohio/Central Crossing HS) tallied her second best individual finish of the season as she placed 18th in a field of 210 competitors with a time of 19:51.51, which is her fastest in five races this fall.

 

Freshman Sarah Trick (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe HS) and senior Lindsay Dearth (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville South HS) took the second and third spots for the Crusaders on the day.  Trick placed 49th with a time of 21:05.63 while Dearth crossed the line in 21:29.04 to finish in 72nd position.

 

Senior Amy Shaw (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland HS) and freshman Marissa Snyder (Montpelier, Ohio/Montpelier HS) finished in 148th and 153rd positions respectively.  Shaw had a time of 23:56.85 while Snyder posted a 24:16.38.

 

The freshmen duo of Jacqueline Sweitochowski (Des Plaines, Ohio/Maine West HS) and Hannah Childs (Grandview Heights, Ohio/Grandview Heights HS) wrapped up the Capital female competitors in the race.  Sweitochowski placed 166th with a time of 25:00.31 while Childs had a 27:31.62 to place 183rd.

 

Senior Bryan DeArdo (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central HS) ran his way to a 26:51.23 to finish in 43rd place out of 238 runners on the men’s side for Capital.

 

Sophomores Nate Wirrig (North Lewisburg, Ohio/Tri-County HS) and Emerson Rhoad (Zanesville, Ohio/Zanesville HS) followed closely in 48th and 66th positions respectively.  Wiring crossed the line with a time of 26:59.28 while Rhoad posted a 27:38.00.

 

Junior Joel Eversole (Waverly, Ohio/Waverly HS) had a 79th place finish after recording a time of 27:58.01 while freshman Alex Moore (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson HS) tallied a 111th place finish for running a time of 28:46.51.

 

Senior Joe Miceli (Newark, Ohio/Newark Catholic HS) and freshman Conrad Booth (Dutch Harbor, Alk./Unalaska City HS) closed out the Crusader male finishers with times of 28:56.64 and 30:32.75 each.  Miceli placed 119th while Booth was 169th individually.

 

Capital will now prepare for the 2008 OAC Cross Country Championships on Nov. 1 hosted by Marietta College.
