AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Capital University junior forward Steven McCarthy was tabbed as a Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season.
McCarthy (Centerville, Ohio/Archbishop Alter HS) led the Crusaders to a 2-0-0 week with wins over Wilmington and Marietta that lifted CU into sole possession of first place in the OAC standings. He scored three goals including the game-winner during a double overtime victory over Marietta on Saturday.
Overall this season, McCarthy leads the OAC in points (22) and goals scored (8) while also leading all Crusaders with six assists. In only 52 career matches played, he has tallied 38 goals and 12 assists for 88 points.
Capital returns to action with his final home match on Wednesday against Baldwin-Wallace at 4 p.m. ET.
