Next Steps for Transfers

Transfer Student Announcements:

  • Transfer applications are now being accepted for Fall 2010.
  • Nursing transfer applications are now being accepted for the Fall 2010 semester.  Applications are reviewed on a space available basis for the limited number of transfer spaces.
Transferring to Capital is a smooth process when you follow these steps:

Step 1: Apply Online
Apply by August 1 for Fall or December 1 for Spring.  We'll let you know what we decide two weeks after we get your application. Nursing students, you'll need to apply by March.

Step 2: Transcript Review
Once you're in, Capital's Registrar will review your transcripts.  Then we'll you an audit of your General Education Classes so you know which classes will transfer to Capital. A faculty adviser will determine how the courses apply to the degree, so you should contact the Admissions office to schedule a meeting with a faculty adviser to find out how your major classes transfer and how long it will take to complete your degree.

Step 3: Financial Aid
Good news!  Transfer students (except Conservatory) are automatically considered for scholarships and grants.  Just submit your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) with Capital’s financial aid code (003023). Once you're been accepted and we have your FAFSA, we'll send your financial aid award packet. That should happen in March for Fall term and October for Spring semester.

Step 4: Submit Your Deposit
Once you've checked out your financial aid award, you need to submit the enrollment deposit to reserve a space our class. See your acceptance letter for details. The deposit is $300 for residential students and $200 for commuter students.

Step 5: Schedule Your Classes
We'll send you an advising folder as soon as we get your deposit, and the faculty advisor will contact you to register for classes. After you meet with your advisor, turn in your completed schedule to the Registrar’s Office.

Step 6: Complete Your Paperwork
We'll also send you a packet of information about the Student Personnel Record, Health History Form, Housing Application, Housing Release Form, and Insurance Waiver (for students opting out of Capital University Student Health Insurance).

Step 7: Choose a Way to Pay
The Student Accounts Office will send information about your e-bill and payment options to your Capital e-mail account.

Step 8: Attend Transfer Student Orientation
You and your family members are invited to attend Transfer Transition Orientation. (Early January for Spring semester and late August for Fall semester)

Step 9: Get started on your Capital degree.  Welcome to Capital!
