Access to The Capital Center

To allow time to set up and secure the building, The Capital Center will be closed early Friday morning through Friday afternoon. Some athletic practice schedules have changed, so student-Athletes should check with their coaches for the latest information.

Students who have classes scheduled to meet in The Capital Center during that time should contact their faculty members or the Registrar’s Office for details on whether their class has been moved or will meet at the regularly scheduled time and place. The elevator and restrooms and classrooms on the second floor will be closed during the event.

Those attending the event should enter The Capital Center from Pleasant Ridge Avenue. Members of the general public should enter through the north entrance on Pleasant Ridge, and members of the media should enter and pick up credentials at the south entrance on Pleasant Ridge.

Road closures and parking
Pleasant Ridge Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic between Mound Street and Main Street from 3 p.m. today through Friday afternoon to allow the setup crew to load and unload equipment, to secure the area, and to accommodate satellite trucks. Mound Street also may be closed temporarily in front of The Capital Center during the event.

From early Friday morning through the afternoon, the parking lot on the north side of The Capital Center (near Anthony’s Family Pizza) will be closed. There will be no street parking on Pleasant Ridge Avenue between Mound and Main Street; the north third of C-lot will be reserved for handicap parking; and visitor parking on Mound Street will be reserved for special guests.

Because campus parking is limited, students, faculty and staff traveling to campus are encouraged to car-pool, take public transportation, bike or walk to campus, if possible.

All Capital students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and friends are encouraged to wear purple! All eyes will be on Capital University, so show your Capital pride and wear your purple.
