Doug Hare (dougharemusic.com) serves as an adjunct class keyboard instructor. He makes it his goal to enable students to grow a deep level of understanding and appreciation of the keyboard and empower them to play the keyboard expressively, regardless of their experience. He is regularly sought to entertain as a pianist and singer. Hare's biggest strength as a performer is his flexibility and broad repertoire, including jazz standards as well as country, rock and pop songs from many decades. Hare is frequently in demand to play Muirfield, Scioto, Brookside, New Albany and Lakes Country Clubs, as well as Franklin Park Conservatory, Columbus Athletic Club, Westin Great Southern, Darby Dan Retreat House, Miranova and private parties throughout Central Ohio. He brings this versatility and passion to Capital where he hopes to inspire all of his students to play the piano from the heart.
Hare has always loved pop and jazz music, playing and singing for audiences his entire life, be it restaurants, concerts or private events. He studied composition under Dr. Rocky J. Reuter and piano with Mark Flugge. Hare earned a degree in Composition from Capital University in 2001 graduating magna cum laude.
Hare performed at the Howl at the Moon piano bar in Columbus, where he learned to play and sing hundreds of songs prior to its closing. While continuing to learn jazz standards and writing his own material, he carved out a niche playing private parties, receptions and wherever else jazz and pop entertainment is needed. Hare also writes songs and serves as the contemporary music minister at Christ Church Anglican in Victorian Village.
Hare also enjoys spending time with his wife Julia, whether it be cooking, cleaning or watching DVDs. He also likes to play tennis, read and draw.
