WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Visiting Capital wrapped up its 2008 regular season with a 2-2 draw at OAC rival Otterbein on Friday. The Crusaders, which already clinched the 2008 OAC Regular Season Championship, now has a 13-4-1 overall record and a 7-1-1 mark in conference play.
Capital will hold home field advantage for the 2008 OAC Tournament and host an OAC Semifinal Match on Wednesday at Bernlohr Stadium beginning at 2 p.m. ET.
Otterbein (7-7-3, 4-4-1 OAC) opened the scoring with an unassisted goal by Byron Horton in the 13th minute before Capital got on the board with a finish off of a corner kick from junior Josh Thaboune (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley HS) in the 23rd minute.
The Crusaders took the advantage in the second half as Kevin Doran (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy HS) pushed in a rebound in the 56th minute for a 2-1 lead.
CU held the ball in the OC end of the field for most of the match as it forced an 11-3 advantage in corner kicks throughout the match and a 21-17 lead in shots.
Otterbein found its equalizer in the 87th minute when Brandon Shepherd chipped a ball from the top of the box over the head of the keeper and into the back of the net.
Both sides had quality scoring chances in the overtime periods, but neither side could score as the match finished in a 2-2 draw.
John Snyder (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington HS) and Justin Bultman (Maineville, Ohio/Kings HS) split time in goal for Capital. Snyder made one save while Bultman had five while each allowing one goal.
