CRUSADERS FALL TO DAYTON IN EXHIBITION, 98-73

DAYTON, OhioThe Capital men’s basketball team put three scorers into double figures, but could not overcome the athleticism of Division I Dayton as the Crusaders lost to the Flyers, 98-73 in an exhibition game in front of 8,123 fans at UD Arena on Thursday.

 

Senior Ryan Wood (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central HS) led the Crusaders with 16 points on 4-for-8 shooting from three-point range as CU finished 9-for-25 shooting from beyond the arc.

 

Classmates Nate Stahl (St. Henry, Ohio/St. Henry HS) and Jamie Yoder (West Holmes, Ohio/West Holmes HS) each tallied 10 points while Stahl added six rebounds and two assists.

 

Sophomore DJ Frazier (Cincinnati, Ohio/Withrow HS) finished with seven points and six rebounds while fellow sophomore Adam Johns (St. Marys, Ohio/St. Marys HS) added seven points of his own off the bench.

 

Capital held a 9-6 edge in made three-point shots and hit 24-of-33 free throws, but could not overcome a 32-0 deficit in fast break points and a 52-18 Flyer lead at points in the paint.

 

The Crusaders open the 2008-2009 season with a trip to Cleveland, Ohio for the Case Western Reserve Tip-Off Classic.  CU will face Bluffton on Friday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. ET before taking on either host Case Western Reserve or Monmouth on Saturday.
