GAMBIER, Ohio - The Capital women's basketball team led from start to finish while posting a 77-41 non-conference victory at Kenyon on Tuesday night. With the win, the visiting Crusaders improved to 2-1 overall while the Ladies fell to 0-3.
Four Crusader scorers reached double figures in the 36-point victory including a 14-point effort from senior Daniele Sanna (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North HS). Sanna made 7-of-13 shots from the field to go along with six steals, five rebounds, two assists and one block in 25 minutes of action.
The junior duo of Kristen Richardson (Oxford, Ohio/Talawanda HS) and Caitlin Elsass (Batavia, Ohio/Clermont Northeastern HS) finished with 13 points each in a winning effort. Richardson went 5-of-9 from the floor with four rebounds, three steals and one assist. Elsass hit 5-of-11 shots from the field while pulling down three rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Sophomore Tara Harper (Dresden, Ohio/Tri-Valley HS) made 3-of-4 shots from the field to finish with 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals to help the Crusaders score 43 points off turnovers including 22 CU steals.
Classmate Lindsey Watt (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North HS) added six points and five rebounds off the bench for Capital, which held a 27-10 lead in bench points. Overall, 13 different players scored at least two points for the Crusaders, which return to action on Sat., Dec. 6 with its OAC opener at home against #12 Baldwin-Wallace.
