AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Senior post Quintin Mitchell was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday after leading the nationally-ranked Crusaders to a 2-0 record last week.

Mitchell (Toledo, Ohio/Toledo Libbey HS) led Capital in both scoring and rebounding while coming off the bench in Capital’s wins over Ohio Wesleyan (82-70) and Baldwin-Wallace (92-87 OT) last week.  He averaged 15.5 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game and 1.5 steals per game while playing just 23.5 minutes per contest.  Mitchell finished with 10 points, four rebounds, two blocks, one steal and one assist in 16 minutes of play against OWU on Wednesday.  He followed with 21 points (including four of Capital’s nine points in overtime), nine rebounds and two steals in the win over the Yellow Jackets.

Overall this season, Mitchell is third on the team in scoring and rebounding with 11.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg.  He also leads the team in both blocks (5) and field goal percentage (.594) while playing in four of six games this season.

Capital is off to its first 6-0 start in modern program history.  The Crusaders were ranked No. 12 nationally in last week’s D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll and will return to action on Thursday.  CU will travel to Wilmington for an OAC game beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.
