MINNEAPOLIS – Senior All-American wing Nate Stahl was named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week for his efforts on the hardwood for the nationally-ranked Capital University men’s basketball team to a pair of victories last week.
Stahl (St. Henry, Ohio/St. Henry HS) was a perfect 6-for-6 from three-point range and finished with 20 points in 77-63 win over Ohio Dominican on Dec. 18. His performance was the most makes without a miss from three-point range for any player in NCAA Division III this season. He was just one trey shy of the school record for three-pointer in a single game, which Stahl also accomplished in the NCAA First Round victory over Bethany last season. Stahl added five rebounds and three steals in the win over the Panthers.
The 2008 OAC Player of the Year and All-America honoree ranks 10th all-time in scoring at Capital with 1,305 points after scoring seven in the Crusaders 89-84 victory over Kenyon on Dec. 22. Stahl leads Capital in both scoring (14.7 ppg), steals (1.4 spg) and blocked shots (1.0 bpg) while playing 31.2 minutes per game which is second best on the squad.
Capital is off to its best start in school history at 10-1 and was ranked 12th nationally in the D3hoops.com Top25 Poll that was released on Dec. 23. The Crusaders are also 3-1 against Ohio Athletic Conference opponents and are winning by an average margin of 7.8 points per game overall.
The Crusader men will return to action on Jan. 7 with a trip to Mount Union for an OAC matchup beginning at 7:30 p.m.
