CRUSADER PAIR NAMED OAC FIELD PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Capital University senior Lizzy Stanton and sophomore Cory Trump were tabbed as the Ohio Athletic Conference women’s and men’s Field Performers of the Week on Monday.

 

Stanton (Cincinnati, Ohio/Withrow HS) won the triple jump and placed third in the long jump at the 2009 Rev. Mike Hout Invitational at the Capital Center on Saturday.  She posted an OAC “A” qualifying distance of 34’06.75” in the triple jump as she was four inches ahead of her closest competitor.  Stanton also tallied an OAC “A” qualifying distance of 17’06.75” in the long jump while placing third.  Her mark was just five inches behind the second place finisher from Ohio State.  She also qualified for the finals and placed 10th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.41.

 

Trump (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson HS) was one of the strong performers on the night for Capital men in the high jump. Trump jumped a 6’07.50” to post a CU school record, OAC “A” Qualifying and NCAA Provisional Qualifying height.  His jumped matched the height set by first place finisher Ryan Blake of Ohio State, but Trump placed second due to a tiebreaker.

 

Capital remains at home to play host to the Crusader Invitational next Saturday beginning at Noon at the Capital Center.
