So...here are a few countdowns:
-Less than a day until Greek Recruitment kickoff
-Less than a week until a new president is in office
-Less than a month until I turn 20, and until Chi gets new ladybugs!
-Less than four months and I'll be a JUNIOR in college! Ahhhhhhh!
So. I haven't written in a really, really super long time, and that' really abnormal for me. So, let me explain.
Last semester was a pretty tough semester for me, I'm not gonna lie. I had very difficult classes as well as a lot of personal stuff going on at the same time. However, a lot of it is over now, and so I'm hopping gladly into the new year..
...and consumed with so much to do! I have new classes which I am enjoying so far, most of them I have people I know taking them with me. That's always a plus, because you always have someone to study with, or split a textbook if you can!
Another really exciting thing coming up Greek Life Recruitment!! I'm on Greek Council this semester, so not only do I get to be involved within Chi Theta Pi's recruitment, but I get to help out at the kickoff tomorrow, signing up recruits, getting information, taking pictures, and answering any questions about Greek Life! It's a really exciting and busy time for Greek Life, but I'm so thrilled to be getting new ladybugs soooooon!
Also, I'm back full swing into admissions, and we're finally calling and welcome accepted students for the Class of 2013 on campus! There are a lot of admissions events for seniors who still aren't sure, or juniors who are getting a jump start on their college search! (I reccommend it! I was a sophomore when I started mine...crazy, right?) Search the website for some more dates for those events.
Seniors...how excited are you? You GRADUATE in a few months! Majority of you have already chosen where you want to go, and some are still choosing. Relax! Just make sure you follow deadlines, and find the right pick for you. College is an absolutely fantastic experience, and you want to pick an environment in which YOU will feel comfortable spending a couple of years in.
It's amazing how many people I actually know on campus now, staff and students. A few weeks ago, I had a tour, and I waved or said hi to a lot of people on the tour, and the family was surprised I knew so many people! That's something really cool about Capital. You can make your social life as you want it to be. If you want to have your close knit group of friends, you can do it. If you want to know a broad variety of people, I would reccommend getting involved in some kind of organization and just be outgoing. I meet someone new almost everyday! Greek Life has also helped me meet a lot of new people as well, especially our first years : )
I'll leave you with a story. One of my sorority sisters is going to Spain this semester. Although this really makes me sad, because I'm going to miss her a lot, I'm also really, really excited for her. Not a lot of people get the chance to travel abroad, and college is a very opportune time to. My sister is going to Seville, Spain and she will be studying there and living with a family as well. I know Capital offers a lot of opportunities to study abroad, and if that is something you are interested in, the Study Abroad office will help you in setting up a semester abroad! Exciting, right? : )
With luck and love,
xoxoheather
P.S. I went to NEW YORK CITY over break. It was fantastic!! If you get the chance to go, DO IT. I'm serious.
