AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The duo of senior Lizzy Stanton and freshman Kwesi Seabrook were tabbed as the Ohio Athletic Conference Field and Track Performers of the Week respectively on Monday following solid efforts at this weekend’s Crusader Invitational.
Stanton (Cincinnati, Ohio/Withrow HS) won both the long jump and triple jump on Saturday. In the long jump, she provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships while posting an OAC ‘A’ qualifying distance of 17-10.25 feet. The mark is the best in the OAC this season an beats her previous best by 3.5 inches. Stanton also won the triple jump with an OAC ‘A’ qualifying distance of 33-10.25 feet. The honor from the OAC is the second straight this season for Stanton.
Seabrook (Dayton, Ohio/Chaminade-Julienne HS), who is running track for the first time since she was a freshman in high school, was part of three different first place efforts on Saturday. Individually, she won the 400 meter dash by posting the fastest mark in the OAC this season at 1:01.67. The time was good for an OAC ‘A’ qualifier and improved upon her next fastest time by .40 seconds. Seabrook also took part in the victorious 4x200 and 4x400 relay performances. In the 4x200, she ran her best split of the season at 26.70 to help the squad post an OAC best 1:46.18. Seabrook also led the 4x400 relay to a win by over three seconds with a team best split of 62.3 to finish with a 4:14.37 overall.
The Capital women’s and men’s indoor track & field teams will return to action this Friday with a trip to Ohio Wesleyan for the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational beginning at 4 p.m.
