So, this week has been really fantastic.
Monday was the MLK Day of Learning. I got up in the morning to see Immaculee Ilibagiza, a survivor of the Rwandan holocaust, speak at the opening convocation. It was a very moving speech, and really opened my eyes to what happened in Rwanda. It is one thing to see Hotel Rwanda, but it really is another to listen to someone who actually lived through it. After that, since classes were cancelled for the morning, I hung around with my friends and did some homework and caught up on some sleep!
On Tuesday, President Obama was inaugurated! It was such an awesome feeling to watch a President get inaugurated in an election that I voted in! A few hours after inauguration, my sorority sister who is living at home until February (when she leaves for Spain : ( ) came to visit!! I was very happy to see her, and she helped us get ready and throw Chi's first rush party, which was very successful! It was so weird to be the one wearing the letters this year and singing to all of the recruits. : )
Wednesday, I found out that in a few weeks, I'll be going to St. Louis for a Greek leadership conference and Sarah Unger (another blogger) will be coming with me! : ) I'm so excited, I've never been to St. Louis, so it will be a good experience.
And today, I attended class this morning in fairly nice weather (better than we have been getting!), spent a few hours with one of my sisters, and then went to go talk to our awesome new Greek Life advisor, Ryan : )
Tomorrow's Friday, and then I am so ready for the weekend because it's Chi's formal!
That's really it for now. I'm so happy to finally be in recruitment season, and soon get new ladybugs!
January's almost over though...which means my twentieth birthday approaches..
With luck and love,
xoxoheather
P.S. I would like to say hi to some people on second floor Schaff..because I know you boys will see this eventually..and some of my sisters : ) Apparently, some of my friends are just now finding out that I blog for Capital : )
