COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Capital University women's basketball team will be hosting a pair of promotional events at its upcoming home games in February.
CU will host the annual NCAA Take A Kid to the Game Day on Saturday, February 7 when the Crusaders play host to Muskingum at 3 p.m. All children 14 and under will receive FREE admission to the game when accompanied by a paying adult. TAKG is a national grassroots program designed to encourage adults to take children to NCAA sporting events and the 2008-09 season marks the 14th year the Take A Kid to the Game program has promoted women and men's basketball. With the NCAA's support, over 700 TAKG games will be hosted across the nation, which will provide thousands of youngsters the opportunity to experience college basketball.
Capital will also host its annual ‘Think Pink' game for Breast Cancer awareness on Saturday, February 14 as CU takes on Ohio Northern at the Capital Center beginning at 3 p.m. Proceeds from the tickets sold on that date will be donated to a breast cancer awareness group to help in fight to find a cure for breast cancer. Also, fans will have the opportunity to learn more about the disease with education materials available at the game.
The Crusader women's basketball team currently sits in first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference standings and boasts a roster of four seniors. Capital is the winningest program in OAC history and leads all schools with 10 OAC Regular Season Championships and seven OAC Tournament Titles. CU has also advanced to the NCAA Tournament an OAC-record 13 times making four Top three finishes including the 1994 and 1995 National Titles.
