Equipment Delivery, Pick-Up and Check-Out

Weekly System Maintenance

To maintain optimal performance, it is necessary to perform routine system maintenance on key information services.  We will perform this during off hours with nightly routine operational maintenance during the time periods noted below.  It is during these time frames that services and systems may be unavailable.  Should system maintenance require service interruption, IT will communicate this through campus communication channels.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

 Weekly System Maintenace Hours

 Tuesday: 5AM – 7AM
 Thursday: 10PM – 12 Midnight

Equipment Loan Program

The IT Loan Program provides short term loan (check-out) of a limited supply of laptops, digitial cameras, DV cameras and other audio/visual equipment to support academic need.  Majority of equipment may be checked out for a maximum of 3 days, however, broadcast cameras (for communication majors) may only be available for shorter time periods due to classroom projects and high demands during the semester.

All equipment borrowed must be returned to IT as promised by the designated time and date agreed upon.  Faculty, staff and students who return equipment late three times, will have their borrowing priviledges removed for an entire semester for the first offense and the entire year for the second offense.

Please note that some equipment is available for faculty and staff only, while others are available for students who are communication and broadcast majors.  To reserve equipment, please contact the IT service desk at 614-236-6508 or come directly to the service desk window for assistance.  All equipment is reserved and loaned out on a first come basis.

Classroom Equipment Delivery*

IT maintains most of the classroom audio-visual and presentation equipment around campus, and supplies a variety of additional items which are available for classroom delivery.  Some of the most basic items we have available are listed on this site, but if you have a particular need, please call us at Extension 6508 or send an email request to servicedesk@capital.edu.

Requests for equipment delivery need to be presented to the Information Technology Service Desk no later than 4:00 pm on the weekday before the class where the equipment is needed.  We encourage you to place delivery requests by telephone so that we can insure that what you want is actually possible and that the equipment you need is available.  If you prefer to use email or to issue a service desk ticket, please make sure you give us the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your contact information (email address, telephone number)
  • What equipment you need
  • Where do you need it (building and room)
  • When do you need it (class meeting time)

*Please note, for security reasons, reservable equipment such as cameras, laptop computers and data projectors cannot be delivered to classrooms.
