The Kodály Institute at Capital University
The Kodály Institute at Capital was established in 1980 by Capital Graduate Gregory Von Stein ('77) and Dr. Sandra Mathias, professor of music education. The Institute is dedicated to providing its students:
- An international faculty of master teachers
- A high quality of instruction in Music and Education
- A comprehensive musical experience
- An education that will enrich and enhance teaching
The Kodály Institute at Capital University is one of the few schools in the United States to offer special tracks of study for elementary teachers, secondary choral music teachers, and instrumental teachers.
Students take Musicianship, Conducting, and Choir, but divide into their specialty area for Methodology I, II, III and Materials I, II, III. Faculty in these specialty courses will guide students in the application of the Kodály philosophy to their specific area of teaching.
