Education Student Organizations

Campus Organizations for Education Students

You dream of impacting the lives of the students in your classroom. And the best way to do it is to join forces with other teachers. Get a head start by joining one of Capital's pre-professional teaching organizations. You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Trade ideas and teaching strategies
  • Gather job leads and career advice
  • Apply for financial aid to explore areas of academic interest

The Capital University Education Society (CUES)

This pre-professional student organization works for the advancement of all teacher education students at Capital. We strongly encourage you to join.

CUES is linked with the Ohio Student Education Association (OSEA) and the Ohio Education Association (OEA). Liability insurance, which you'll need for your field-based and clinical experiences, is an important benefit of OSEA membership.

For more information or to become a CUES member, contact any of the following:

  • Capital's education department office
  • CUES officers or advisors
  • Teacher education program faculty

Phi Delta Kappa

Affiliated with the national organization of the same name, Capital's Phi Delta Kappa organization:

  • Recognizes student teachers
  • Allow them to be a part of a professional association that promotes public education
  • Provides opportunities for research and scholarship awards and grants

For more information about Phi Delta Kappa, contact the education department office or a teacher education faculty advisor.

Pi Lambda Theta

Membership in this international honorary society is by invitation only. To be eligible, you must:

  • Be a Capital University teacher education student
  • Have at least second-semester sophomore standing
  • Have an overall GPA of 3.500 or higher

Benefits of Pi Lambda Theta membership include the opportunity to attend local chapter programs and apply for research and scholarship awards and grants.
