Admission to Student Teaching at Capital University

Student-teaching is the most effective way to learn what it’s really like on the other side of the desk. And it’s an integral part of teacher education here at Capital.

Student-teaching is a privilege; you have to formally apply and be accepted in order to do it. Specifically, you must:

  • Complete and submit an Application for Admission to Student Teaching* at least six months before you want to start (by March 15 for fall semester or by October 1 for spring semester)
  • Be an accepted member of the teacher education department
  • Achieve and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.500, both overall and in your major
  • Demonstrate and verify good moral character
  • Pay a fee to Capital University
  • Undergo a criminal background check

*Available in the education department office

Note: You may not student-teach if you are on university disciplinary probation.
