CAPITAL SETS THE STAGE ON DAY ONE OF 2009 OAC INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Results 

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Capital women's and men's track & field squads combined to send nine athletes to finals with strong performances in Friday's action at the 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Capital Center.

Two Capital records were also broken on the day headlined by the 300 meter dash.  Junior Jessica Starks (Akron, Ohio/Akron East HS) broke the meet and Capital Center records while also posting a program-record time of 40.85 in the prelims to finish 1.13 seconds ahead of her teammate Brittany Carter (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville HS).  Starks and Carter also placed third and fourth respectively in the prelims of the 55 meter dash.

Freshman Kwesi Seabrook (Dayton, Ohio/Chaminade-Julienne HS) improved upon her own school record with a top mark of 58.77 in the 400 meter dash.

In one of the four finals on the women's side, sophomore Mallory Molls (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick HS) placed fourth while classmate Corinne Salva (Fredericktown, Ohio/Fredericktown HS) was tied for seventh in the pole vault.  Molls cleared the bar at 10-10' while Salva was successful at a height of 9-10'.

Senior Homa Mohemani (Columbus, Ohio/Whetstone HS) was fourth for the Crusaders in the exhibition of the weight throw with a toss of 13.41 meters.

On the men's side, sophomore Casey Mason (Logan, Ohio/Logan HS) advanced to the finals of the 55 meter hurdles with the sixth fastest preliminary time of 8.29 seconds.

Saturday's final day of action at the 2009 OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships begins at 10 a.m. with field events and will run until approximately 5 p.m.  All of the day's results can be followed with Realtime scoring at http://www.CapitalCrusaders.net.
