STARKS PLACES 13TH AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Junior sprinter Jessica Starks (Akron, Ohio/Akron East HS) ran her way to a 13th place finish in the 55 meter dash on Friday at the 2009 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Starks recorded a time of 7.32 in the prelims, which was her fastest time in a single performance this season.  It was also 0.10 seconds shy of reaching the eight-athlete finals, which will take place on Saturday.

Last Saturday, Starks placed third in the OAC Championships with a school record time of 7.27 seconds in the prelims.  Her fastest time of the season in the 55 meter dash was a 7.21 on Feb. 20 at the Rick Meindl Last Call also hosted by Capital University.

Capital's action at the 2009 NCAA Championships will resume on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET when sophomore Cory Trump takes part in the men's high jump.
