RICHARDSON GARNERS OAC ALL-ACADEMIC HONORS

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Junior Kristen Richardson was selected to the Ohio Athletic Conference All-Academic Team on Tuesday following voting conducted amongst the OAC's faculty athletics representatives.

In order to be eligible for OAC All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.  He must also be a starter or key reserve and be in at least his second year of participation in the sport.

Richardson, a 5-6 guard from Oxford's Talawanda High School, led Capital in scoring (14.4 ppg) while holding the highest GPA of any OAC All-Academic Team honoree at 3.97 in organizational communications.  She earned ESPN The Magazine Third Team honors this season while also being named to the All-OAC First Team to give her All-Conference and Academic All-Conference honors in each of the past two seasons.  Richardson became Capital's 18th member of the 1,000-point club on the final day of the regular season during a season-best 29-point effort against Otterbein.  Richardson converted on 57.9 percent of her shots from the field in conference play and was named the OAC Player of the Week on Jan. after tallying 22 points and 11-of-14 shooting from the field to go along with five assists against Marietta.

Capital won the OAC Regular Season and Conference Tournament Titles this season while posting a 22-6 overall record.  The Crusaders advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 14th time in program history and lost in the First Round to Washington (Mo.), which will be taking part in the Final Four this weekend.  Capital has been home to 33 OAC All-Academic Team selections, which is the most of any conference school.
