Capital University senior forward
Daniele Sanna was tabbed as a NCAA Division III Honorable Mention All-America selection by both the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and D3hoops.com. Sanna becomes the 15th All-America selection in program history.
Sanna (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North HS) is the only player in the Ohio Athletic Conference to make both All-America lists. She was named the 2008-2009 Player of the Year in the conference despite not being named OAC Player of the Week one this season due to her consistently strong performances throughout the season.
The OAC Tournament Most Valuable Player reached double figures in scoring 15 times during conference play and posted a pair of double-doubles. Sanna ranked among the OAC's Top 10 in scoring (9th/13.5), field-goal percentage (2nd/.522), free-throw percent (4th/.814) and steals (2nd/ 2.42) while leading the Crusaders to a 22-6 overall record.
Capital won the OAC Regular Season and Conference Tournament Titles this season while posting a perfect 12-0 record at home. The Crusaders advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 14th time in program history while taking home its 11th OAC Regular Season Title and ninth OAC Tourney Championship. Capital has been home to 33 OAC All-Academic Team selections, which is the most of any conference school. The Crusaders boast the best record and winning percentage of any program in the OAC and had the most wins of any school nationally during the 1990s.
