Sorry for the long hiatus of updates (again). It seems like just last week there was snow on the ground and I blinked and it’s 65 degrees! This semester has been a great experience for me. In January I was appointed to Student Government as a Senator for Campus Ministries Sub-Committee. With this appointment we have started to create communications and making Campus Ministries a recognizable group of organizations. With this appointment I definitely needed to brush up on my Roberts rules, I have been corrected more than once when it comes speaking.
For those avid readers who were wondering about my junior recital, it was a success. It took a lot of time, organization, planning, and practicing, but all in all it was great. I was very nervous during the first piece, but after that I forgot that the audience was there (sorry audience) and just played music. It was great! Once again thanks for everyone that came and supported me! My applied lessons professor has already started handing me stacks of music to do my full senior recital, which instead of a half hour of music, I need a full hour. I’m very nervous about it, but I’m sure it will be just as much fun!
The Community Garden is going well; we are finally in the planning stages of the garden. We are looking to start plowing in mid-April and to begin planting on May 1st. It’s hard to believe about a year and half ago this was just a dream, but now it’s becoming a reality. The City of Bexley has taken over the project, but several students are still very actively involved. This has taught me a great deal about attaining goals. If you actively work towards your goals eventually you will succeed.
School has been going well overall it has been a very tough semester with classes, but I’m getting through it. I am currently preparing for my jury, and finals are coming up in 3 short weeks. I can not wait till summer. I miss my family and friends from back home, and at the same time I know that I will miss everything at Capital just as much. I can’t believe next year I am going to be a senior! It feels like I should still have two more years at Capital. I guess I just have to make the best of my last year.
My summer plans consist of working in the mailroom on campus, hanging out with friends, and hopefully playing in a community band in the area. It just hit me that this will be possibly my “last” summer break, I think I’m ready for making the best of it!
As always feel free to email me at alugar@capital.edu if you have any questions! I will try to get back to you as quickly as I can! Till next time!
