WOMEN’S TENNIS PULLS OUT 5-4 VICTORY OVER MUSKINGUM

COMPLETE RESULTS 

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Capital women's tennis team picked up its first dual match victory of the season on Saturday as it defeated Ohio Athletic Conference foe Muskingum, 5-4 at the Columbus School for Girls' Kirk Campus.

Sophomore Robin Burnette (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West HS) as well as freshmen Kristen Foss (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS) and Taylor Gilliam (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon HS) each posted a pair of victories on the afternoon.

Burnette and Foss teamed up to win at first doubles by a count of 8-1.  Gilliam joined with fellow freshman Amanda Belcher (Marysville, Ohio/Marysville HS) to earn a victory at second doubles, 8-6.

At first singles, Burnette was in total control with a 6-1, 6-0 victory while Foss followed at second doubles with a hard-fought win in three sets 6-4, 5-7, 6-1.

Gilliam added a 6-2, 6-1 win at third singles to clinch the victory for the Crusaders.

Capital will return to action at Wittenberg in a non-conference matchup at 1 p.m.
