COMPLETE RESULTS LOCKBOURNE, Ohio - The Capital men's golf team finished seventh out of nine teams at its own Purple & White Invitational following Saturday's final round on the Player's Course at the Foxfire G.C.
Capital posted a two-day team-total of 679, which was only 16 shots behind sixth-place Northwestern Ohio and 17 shots back of both Shawnee State and Heidelberg that tied for fourth place. Madonna won the team title with a team score of 635.
Junior Daniel Zaborsky (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto HS) posted his second straight round of 81 to finish with a 36-hole total of 162 and tie for 12th place individually. Zack Konis of Heidelberg won the individual crown with a score of 153 followed by Steve South of Madonna and Tyler Tinch of Mount Vernon Nazarene who each posted a combined score of 155.
Fellow junior James Koon (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley HS) tied for 25th place with a combined total of 170 following a second-round 87 on Saturday.
Classmate Andy Garcia (Miami, Fla./Palmetto HS) was just four shots back of his teammate with a two-day total of 174 including a final round 86 to finish in 35th position.
The freshmen duo of Cameron Baker (Lima, Ohio/Spencerville HS) and Stephen Moller (London, Ohio/Madison Plains HS) finished in 38th and 41st place respectively for the Crusaders. Baker carded a 94 on Saturday to finish with a score of 180 while Moller tallied an 87 to total 183 overall.
Sophomore Jordan Flack (Chillicothe, Ohio/Huntington HS) rounded out the Capital competitors with a two-day total of 199 to finish in 47th place.
Capital will return to action next Saturday at the Strimer/Lamkin Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
