WOMEN’S TENNIS CLIPPED AT WILMINGTON, 6-3

WILMINGTON, Ohio - Visiting Capital earned two singles and one doubles victory, but it was not enough to overcome Ohio Athletic Conference rival Wilmington in a 6-3 women's tennis loss on Wednesday.

Capital (1-9, 1-3 OAC) had all three of its victories come from two players in its lineup.

Sophomore Robin Burnette (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West HS) picked up her third victory of the season at first singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win.

Freshman Taylor Gilliam (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon HS) also won her singles match at number three in come-from-behind fashion 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-6) to take her record to 2-2 at third singles this season.

The pair of Burnette and Gilliam also won at first doubles by a count of 9-7 to give Capital its highest point total as a team in a loss this season (3).

Capital returns to action on Thursday as it travels to Marietta for an OAC women's-men's doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m.
