MEN'S RESULTS |
WOMEN'S RESULTS DELAWARE, Ohio - The Capital men's and women's track & field squads each finished near the front of the pack at the 2009 All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday. The CU men placed eighth out of 20 teams while the Crusader women finished sixth out 18 squads.
Junior Jessica Starks (Akron, Ohio/Akron East HS) paced the Capital women once again with a pair of NCA provisional qualifying performances. She placed second in the 100 meter dash with a school record time of 12.06. Starks was also second in the 200 meter dash with a mark of 24.78. Both times were the second best performances by OAC competitor this season.
Freshman Sarah Trick (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe HS) improved upon her own school record in the 800 meter run in a winning effort for the Crusader women. She had the second best time in the OAC this season at 2:17.46 to win by 0.69 seconds.
Freshman Kwesi Seabrook (Dayton, Ohio/Chaminade-Julienne HS) won the 400 meter dash by 1.07 seconds for her second consecutive victory in as many weeks in the event.
Senior Lizzy Stanton (Cincinnati, Ohio/Withrow HS) and sophomore Emily Goerig (Letonia, Ohio/Letonia HS) rounded out the top competitors for the CU women. Stanton had her best effort of the outdoor season and second best mark in the OAC while finishing second in the triple jump at 36-04.00'. Goerig was third in the shot put after a toss of 39-01.25'.
Senior Doug Gibbons (Troy, Ohio/Troy HS) led the Capital men with a first place finish in the pole vault. He cleared the bar at 15-02.25' to beat out the competition by four inches.
Junior Marty Assmann (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Hartley HS) placed second in the javelin with his best throw of the season. His mark of 173-02' is also the fourth best throw by an OAC competitor this spring.
Senior Joe Miceli (Newark, Ohio/Newark Catholic HS) finished third in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:55.06, which ranks him third best in the OAC this season.
Capital returns to action next Saturday at the Kenyon Invitational.
