AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Capital University junior
Brittany Stefano was named the OAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday after leading the Crusader softball team to a 4-0 record in conference play last week.
Stefano (Uniontown, Ohio/Uniontown Lake HS) started all four game and posted three complete-game performances overall. She had 0.77 ERA with just three earned runs allowed in 27.0 innings pitched including a complete-game shutout in game one of a doubleheader with Heidelberg. Stefano tallied 25 strikeouts while surrendering just two walks and has pitched 14.0 consecutive scoreless innings pitched. Overall this season, Stefano is 15-5 with a 1.52 ERA in 24 appearances that include 16 complete-game efforts. She has tallied 146 strikeouts and just 33 walks in 146.2 innings pitched.
Capital (16-10, 6-4 OAC) sits in a tie for fifth place in the OAC heading into pivitol week of action. CU travels north to face John Carroll (also 6-4 in the OAC) on Wednesday in a doubleheader at 3:30 p.m. Then after a trip to Mount St. Joseph for a non-conference twinbill on Thursday, Capital is back at home on Saturday. The Crusaders will play host to #12 Ohio Northern in a pair of OAC games beginning at 1 p.m.
