COMPLETE RESULTS COLUMBUS, Ohio -Homestanding Capital played a number of close matches, but lost to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Heidelberg, 8-1 in a women's tennis match held Wednesday at the Columbus School for Girls' Kirk campus.
With the loss, Capital fell to 1-12 overall this season and 1-7 in OAC action. Heidelberg improved to 4-4 overall and 3-4 against OAC opponents.
Sophomore Robin Burnette (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West HS) managed the lone win of the day for Capital at first singles. After winning the first set, 6-2, Burnette took the match after her opponent retired due to injury.
Burnette was also part of the most competitive doubles match of the afternoon as she joined freshman Taylor Gilliam (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon HS) in a 9-8 loss that went down to a tiebreaker that was won by Heidelberg, 7-4.
Capital will be back in action on Thursday at the Columbus School for Girls' Kirk campus as it plays host to Central State beginning at 4 p.m.
