Weekly System Maintenance

To maintain optimal performance, it is necessary to perform routine system maintenance on key information services.  We will perform this during off hours with nightly routine operational maintenance during the time periods noted below.  It is during these time frames that services and systems may be unavailable.  Should system maintenance require service interruption, IT will communicate this through campus communication channels.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

 Weekly System Maintenace Hours

University ID Cards

If you are a current Capital faculty, staff or student, you are eligiable to obtain an ID from the Department of Information Technology.  IDs may be obtained Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 11:30am AND 1:30pm - 4:30pm.  Appointments can be made to get an ID after 4:30pm or on weekends by simply contacting the IT Service Desk at 614-236-6508.

After receiving your ID, you should stop by the Circulation Desk on the first floor of Blackmore Library to have the barcode activated on the back of your card.  This will enable you to check out books as well as use key library services such as OhioLink.

If you are a student on a meal plan, you may also need to take your ID card to the Capital Court Dining Room to have your card encoded before you can use this service.

Obtaining an ID Card

Faculty and Staff

If you are a new faculty or staff member, you will need to go directly to Human Resources to have all your personal and work related information added to the university's database.  The IT department uses this information to validate that you are a current university employee.  If you are not in the system, we cannot validate who you are, therefore, no ID card can be issued to you.

The Human Resources department will usually give you a "New Capital University Employee" form to bring to the IT department.  This form will need to be completed and signed by Human Resources personnel.  You must bring this form with you to IT to get your ID card as well as obtain other services such as an e-mail account.

Students

If you are a new incoming student, your ID will usually be taken during your orientation session.  If you are a first year student, your ID will usually be placed in your campus mail box located in the campus center.  If you find that your ID is not there, please check with the Student Activities and Orientation office.  If you are a graduate level student, you should check with the main office in your area of study.

If you missed or did not attend an orientation, you can obtain an ID by coming to the IT Department during regular ID hours.  You must bring some form of picture ID with you for verification purposes (ex: Drivers License) AND have a valid current class schedule with your student ID on it.  The class schedule must show that you have registered and have paid all fees due.

Lost ID Cards

If you lose your ID card, you must pay $25 for a replacement.  Payments must be made directly to the Finance Office in Yochum Hall.  You will be issued a receipt from the finance office.  You must bring this receipt to the IT department and a new ID card will be reprinted and issued to you.

Damaged/Broken ID Cards

Bring your damaged or broken ID card to the IT department for a free replacement.  You will need to bring all pieces of your ID for proof.  A new ID card will not be issued if you do not have at least the ID number along with the photo part of your broken/damaged ID.  If you cannot provide verification of your ID, you will need to go to the finance office and pay $25 for a replacement.
