COMPLETE RESULTS NEW ALBANY, Ohio - The Capital men's golf team played through rainy conditions at New Albany Country Club on Thursday to put itself in ninth place after the first round of the 2009 OAC Championship.
CU enters Friday's final round four shots behind eighth place Baldwin-Wallace and six shots shy of seventh-place Wilmington. The Crusaders are also only 10 shots out of fourth place, which is currently held by Ohio Northern with John Carroll (345) and Mount Union (346) sitting in fifth and sixth place respectively.
Freshman Stephen Moller (London, Ohio/Madison Plains HS) led the way for Capital with a first round score of 85, which was good for a tie of 15th place out of 45 golfers.
Classmate Cameron Baker (Lima, Ohio/Spencerville HS) was only three shots behind his teammate with an 88 to finish in a tie for 22nd position.
Juniors James Koon (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley HS) and Daniel Zaborsky (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto HS) had scores of 90 and 91 respectively for the Crusaders. Koon is tied for 32nd place while Zaborsky is tied for 36th individually.
Junior Andy Garcia (Miami, Fla./Palmetto HS) completed the group for CU with a 99 to tie for 43rd place.
Capital will begin its second round on the 10th hold of the North Course on Friday at 8:30 a.m. if weather permits.
