Competing at two different locations around the State of Ohio, Capital track & field saw two program records broken and another season-best performance on Saturday.
Junior Jessica Starks (Akron, Ohio/Akron East HS) took to the track in her own hometown at the Campbell/Wright Invitational hosted by the University of Akron. Starks broke her own school record while running into the wind with a time of 24.66. Her time is the sixth fastest in NCAA Division III this season and will place her as one of the top individuals to beat in the NCAA Division III National Championship Meet hosted by Marietta College May 21-23.
Sophomore Emily Goerig (Letonia, Ohio/Letonia HS) crushed her own school record in the discus while competing at the Ohio Open hosted by Ohio University. Goerig had a throw of 130-00' which was 13 feet better than her previous season best and school record throw of 117-01'.
Also competing in Athens, junior Marty Assmann (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Hartley HS) won the javelin with a season-best throw of 181-04'. His previous best throw this season was 173-02'.
