KEITCH PICKS UP ANOTHER ACADEMIC HONOR

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Capital University senior softball player Kaleen Keitch picked up Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Academic All-Conference Honorable Mention Honors on Tuesday following a vote conducted amongst the OAC's faculty athletics representatives.

To be eligible for OAC All-Academic Team recognition, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA, be a starter or key reserve and be in at least her second year of participation in the sport.

Keitch, a recent Capital University graduate with a degree in early childhood education after posting a 3.44 cumulative GPA, was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team earlier this spring.  She ranked second on the team this season with 14 RBI.  Keitch was one of six Crusaders to score at least 10 runs this spring while posting a .205 batting average and a .220 on-base percentage. The Pickerington North High School product appeared in 32 of the team's 36 games this season and was second on the team with eight sacrifice bunts while leading the squad with two sacrifice flies.

Capital finished the 2009 season with a 20-16 overall record and an 8-10 mark in conference play, which was good for seventh place in the OAC standings.  CU has posted 20 wins or more in all 11 seasons under the direction of Head Coach Nan Payne.  The Crusaders boasted a 7-1 record in one-run games this spring while the CU pitching staff led the OAC with 198 strikeouts.
