I WILL - Adam Johns

Junior, Middle Childhood Education

St. Marys, Ohio

"I WILL continue the success of the basketball team"

"We can't be satisfied with the success we've had in the past. We need to keep building our own legacy. The team always plans competing for the OAC, which is a very tough league. It's always hard to predict how things will go, but our goal is to always win every game at home and win the OAC regular season and tournament."

"I WILL balance school and basketball"

"I normally start the day with class, and then I go right to practice and grabbing something to eat. Normally I'm finally done between six and eight at night before I can do school work. It's a grind, but you have to find time. It can be hard to have social time, so that's why it helps to be close with your teammates. We've helped each other out, including working on school assignments together. We have great team camaraderie here."

"I WILL get my teaching license"

"Getting some teaching experience and the education classes has been really helpful in my growth as a future teacher. Teaching little kids has been fun. It's great watching the light bulb in their heads go off. I heard good things about both the basketball and teaching program when I was looking to come to Capital as an incoming freshmen. Both have met my expectation.

"I love Capital's four-year education program. The best part of the program has been the field experience. The student-teaching observations have been really helpful, and it helps that each field experience is spread out over you career. As a teacher, I'd like to teach junior high math or social studies."

"I WILL be a basketball coach"

"As a player, I know the game pretty well, and can figure out how to be successful against other teams and their schemes. I've taught my younger brother Micah, who is 13, about basketball and how he can improve. I've also had a good experience working with Coach Goodwin so far. I think I'd be a calm, collected coach on the bench. I don't see myself being much of a yeller."
