CRUSADER DUO NAMED TO OAC ALL-ACADEMIC FOOTBALL TEAM
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Capital University football players Marty Assmann and Pete Ankrom were each named to the Ohio Athletic Conference All-Academic Team on Wednesday following a recent vote conducted amongst the faculty athletics representatives from the conference.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Eight members of the Capital University football team were named to All-OAC honors on Tuesday following a vote conducted amongst the conference’s head coaches.
FOOTBALL FALLS IN FINALE, 17-0 AT BALDWIN-WALLACE
BEREA, Ohio – Visiting Capital could get nothing going offensively on a cold and rainy day in a 17-0 loss at Baldwin-Wallace in the Ohio Athletic Conference football finale for both teams. Capital closed out its season with a 5-5 overall record and a 4-5 mark in OAC play.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore quarterback Nick Alexander (Mayfield, Ohio/Mayfield HS) threw five touchdown passes, three to senior receiver Derick Alexander (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City HS), as Capital University’s football team snapped a three-game losing skid with a 42-10 victory over Muskingum College Saturday at Bernlohr Stadium.

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – Despite a dominant defensive effort, Capital University’s football team turned the football over nine times as the Crusaders dropped a 13-3 decision to Ohio Athletic Conference foe John Carroll University Saturday at Don Shula Stadium.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Crusader football team used 454 yards of offense through the air to defeat OAC rival Wilmington, 48-28 on Saturday at Bernlohr Stadium.
#5 CAPITAL SURGES PAST HEIDELBERG, 38-17
TIFFIN, Ohio - No. 5 Capital used 21 unanswered points in the second half to pull from behind and with its OAC opener at Heidelberg on Saturday. The win lifts the Crusaders to 2-0 on the season overall.
SNYDER AND PICKENS GARNER OAC WEEKLY HONORS
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – A pair of Capital University student-athletes took home weekly honors from the Ohio Athletic Conference on Monday. Senior Joey Snyder was named the OAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week while junior Brad Pickens was tabbed as the OAC Defensive Player of the Week.
#7 FOOTBALL KICKS OFF SEASON WITH 34-14 WIN OVER ADRIAN (MICH.)
(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Senior receiver Derick Alexander (Grove City/Grove City) had two touchdown catches and junior safety Brad Pickens (New London/Western Reserve) had a 70-yard interception return for a touchdown as Capital University’s seventh-ranked football team rolled to a 34-14 victory over Adrian (Mich.) College Saturday at Bernlohr Stadium.
CRUSADERS READY FOR SEASON OPENER SATURDAY
Capital plays host to Adrian to open the 2008 season on Saturday. On campus festivities begin with a student tailgate at 11 a.m. while anyone can follow the game live with a radio feed over the internet.
OAC FOOTBALL PREVIEW TO AIR THIS WEEK ON SPORTSTIME OHIO
The Ohio Athletic Conference will unveil its 2008 OAC Football Preview Show this week on SportsTime Ohio and its affiliates. The broadcasts will be televised Thursday through Sunday and feature each of the 10 OAC football programs including the Capital Crusaders.

Kyle Hausler Named Assistant Football Coach at Capital
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Kyle Hausler has been named assistant football coach at Capital University. Hausler will be responsible for coaching the defensive backs taking over for Todd Stepsis, who left to become the defensive coordinator at Saginaw Valley State (Mich.) University.
Capital Hires Offensive Coordinator and Two Assistant Football Coaches
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Capital University has announced three additions to its football staff as Manny Matsakis has been named offensive coordinator, while Henry Stanford and Robert White have been named offensive assistant coaches.
Capital Names Jim Bickel Head Football Coach
Capital University president Dr. Denvy Bowman has announced that Jim Bickel has been named head football coach. Bickel is the ninth head football coach in school history and has spent the last seven seasons as associate head coach/defensive coordinator.
2007 Season Recap - Nationally Ranked Football Team Posts Another Successful Season
The Capital University football team wrapped up another successful season with an 8-3 record and a third consecutive trip to the NCAA Playoffs. The Crusaders were nationally ranked the entire season and posted their seventh straight winning season.
