The Audio/Visual NirvanaParadiseHeaven

Our blogs aren't on the mainpage of capital.edu yet, so I realize that only a select group of people may be reading these posts as of now. I do, in fact know that some people in that select group belong to my family. Before I begin, I would like to give a loving shoutout to the faithful readers of my family! Grandparents, aunts, uncles and EVERYONE who has found our blogs- Thanks for tuning in!

It's been awhile. I'm ashamed. So much has gone on in the freshman life of me since last I posted. I would like to share an experience about a tradition today- a tradition that has started early- and is bound to last throughout the years.

The tradition is that of mine and my dear friend Jordan. Every Friday afternoon- after shes done with classes and I'm done working in the admissions office, we head eastward on Main Street. For those of you who don't know, Capital's campus sits on Main Street. Many different entertainment, shopping and dining experiences can be found on Main Street. On Friday afternoons, only one Main Street location is relevant to me and Jordan, and that location is the Bexley Public Library. I know what you may be thinking. What dorks! Who goes to the library to start off the weekend? Oh how much there is for you to learn. To answer that question- we do. Every Friday- and for a good reason. The Bexley Public Library has great books that we sometimes get into- but thats not why we're there on Friday. We're there on Friday for the basement..aka the Audio Visual Department. Straight up- The first time I walked into the "movie room" I was in heaven. It's like its own secret nirvana of entertainment. New releases, documentaries, children's movies, musicals- They really do have it all. What better way to start the weekend off than with the 6 movie limit. Jordan and I always make sure we have our limit of 6- our choices often span many different genres. For example, last week I had both "The Wiz" and "Back to the Future" in my hands. Jordan is a fan of the BBC section and Monty Python. What variety! It's usually difficult to watch 6 movies in aweek's rental time- after all-we're busy college students; but with our traditonal Friday library trip, we are assured next week's trip to renew a choice or snatch that 7th movie we were dying to get. Soon our friends at the Bexley Public Library will know us by name. We'll try to make Capital proud- as we head on downstairs to the media-lovers paradise. I wonder what I will get this week..... There you have it. A movie buff's little secret of the "basement" 2 blocks away from campus. Happy Watching!
