NEW ORLEANS - For the seventh consecutive season, the Capital University women's track & field program garnered All-Academic Team honors from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Capital was one of just 100 NCAA Division III programs to achieve that status this spring.
Capital is one of just two OAC women's programs to be on the list for seven consecutive seasons. The Crusader women are also one of only three OAC programs to be honored this year and have been a member of this list every year since the program was restarted in 2002. To be nominated, a team must carry a minimum 3.100 cumulative grade-point average.
The Capital men's and women's programs saw all five performers in the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships reach All-American status. CU also played host to the 2009 OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships and was home to the 2009 OAC Outdoor Field Performer of the Year. The Crusader women tied the school record for point scored at the 2009 OAC Outdoor Championships. Overall, Capital boasted OAC Champions in eight individual events and two relays during the 2009 indoor and outdoor seasons.
