The Capital University football team will have a new helmet design to show off at the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Media Day hosted at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton on Tuesday, August 11.
CU will wear a purple helmet with a white "C" on the right side for the 2009 season. The helmet design is a change from last season when the Crusaders had a white shield on both sides of the helmet in order to better fit the logos and brand of the athletics department.
At the media day, each of the OAC's 10 head coaches will give a preview of their team's upcoming season, while a student-athlete from each institution will take a couple of questions at the podium from conference commissioner Tim Gleason. Capital will be represented by head coach Jim Bickel and senior defensive back Brad Pickens (New London, Ohio/Western Reserve HS).
After lunch the conference's preseason media and coaches polls will be announced. Highlights from the event and interviews with coaches and players will be featured on a one-hour television show produced by the OAC and shown on regional cable sports network SportsTime Ohio.
