Practice makes perfect for Crusader golfer Daniel Zoborsky. After playing a round of golf with his buddies during a recent summer morning, the senior talked with Capital sports information assistant Bryan DeArdo about his golf experiences at Capital thus far, who he would pick to play a round of golf with, and who win a dream matchup between Jack "The Golden Bear" Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.

BD: What has been the best aspect of being on the golf team at Capital?

DZ: I really like hanging out with the guys. I've also always remembered to have fun with golf. You have to remember that it's sports and that it is meant to be fun. It's also been great to work hard at something besides school, and to see hard the work pay off.

BD: How has your experience in Capital's Exercise Science program been like?

DZ: I've really enjoyed the major, and the faculty has been very accommodating. I've really enjoyed the one-on-one relationship I've had with my professors. Anytime I need to miss class for golf, my professors have always been very accommodating when it's come to making up notes and work. I chose this major because I've always loved sports and wanted to stay close to athletics once I was done being competitive.

BD: How has your game evolved with the golf program at Capital?

DZ: We were a really young team when first got here, so it was a rebuilding process. I started off shooting in the 80's and can now shoot 78.

BD: What is the biggest difference between playing golf in college as opposed to high school?

DZ: It's different in college because your season starts at the end of March, where in high school, I'd have half the season done by the time school started in the fall. In college, we play when it's windy, cold, rainy, and everything else. The ball doesn't travel as far, and you have to be able to play the wind and rain. It's an adjustment you have to make, but everyone does.

BD: What would be your advice for someone just taking up golf?

DZ: I'd tell them to really stick to the fundamentals. They should also work on their short game. Being patient is also very important when playing golf. The most important thing is to have fun, because there is no point in playing if you're not.

BD: Do you have a favorite golf book of movie?

DZ: "Caddyshack" and "Tin Cup" are both classics. How I Play Golf by Tiger Woods is a really good book with a lot of advice in it.

BD: If you could play a round of golf with anyone, who would it be and why?

I'm going to have to go with Tiger Woods. I'd love to play with him because he's the best player in the world and how he things on a shot-to-shot basis. I could ask him how he practices and things like that to improve my game.

BD: If Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods faced off in both of their primes, who would win?

DZ: I think Tiger Woods would. He has a much more competitive drive. There is more competition now than when Jack was in his prime.

BD: What are your career ambitions after college?

DZ: I'm really hoping to get into Ohio State's Physical Therapy program. If not, I'd look at Youngstown State or Ohio University's programs.

BD: Do you look to remain a competitive golfer after your Crusader career ends?

DZ: I'll definitely continue to play, but not on a competitive level. My sister and brother both play, so I'd like to play with them and help them out.

BD: What are your individual and team goals for this upcoming season?

I would like to have a scoring average around 75. If the team could finish in the top five in the OAC, that would be a successful season.
