CAPITAL FINISHES FOURTH AT HANOVER VOLLEYBALL INVITE

HANOVER, Ind. - The Capital University volleyball team lost a pair of matches to Centre and Campbellsville at the Hanover Volleyball Invitational on Saturday.

The Crusaders (4-5) started the day with a loss to Centre in their final match of pool play.  CU fell in three closely contested sets, 0-3 (23-25, 25-27, 16-25).  The Crusaders then finished in fourth place after losing to Campbellsville in a crossover match by a score of 1-3 (25-14, 22-25, 24-26, 20-25).

Capital’s offense was paced against Centre by a 30 assist effort from senior Jenna Zumberger (DeGraff, Ohio/Fairlawn HS).  Classmates Allison Hostetler (Dalton, Ohio/Dalton HS) and Sarah Gallik (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston HS) took advantage with 13 and 11 kills respectively.  The Crusader back row was led by senior libero Sara Doebel (Clyde, Ohio/Clyde HS) who tallied 16 digs.

Hostetler, who was also named to the All-Tournament team, had another big performance in the finale against Campbellsville.  The All-OAC middle blocker hit .370 with 10 kills, no errors and 27 attack attempts to go along with three solo blocks.  Zumberger dished out 37 assists while racking up 14 digs while Doebel added 14 digs of her own.
