BOX SCORE

COLUMBUS, Ohio- The Capital Crusaders Volleyball team used a dominating performance at home to defeat Cedarville, 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-17).  With the win, Capital evens its overall record at 5-5.

After a fourth-place finish at the Hanover Invitational this past weekend, Capital recorded their third win of the year at home by taking control of the match after losing the first game to the visiting Lady Jackets.

The catalyst during the Crusaders' comeback was senior Sarah Gallik (Chagrin Falls, OH/ Kenston HS), who tallied 15 kills on the night, including four during Capital's match-clinching fourth set. Gallik also was second on the team with 18.0 points.

Classmate Allison Hostetler (Dalton, OH/Dalton HS) paced both squads with 18.5 points including 14 kills.

Fellow senior Jenna Zumberger (De Graff, OH/Fairlawn HS) contributed with 10 kills while classmate Sara Doebel (Clyde, OH/Clyde HS) made her presence felt by posting 10 defensive digs to lead the Crusaders. Sophomore Lauren Gauvreau (Grafton, OH/Midview HS) also notched eight digs for Capital.

The key to the match was Capital's stellar hitting percentage, as the Crusaders hit .418 in the third set and .517 in the match-clinching fourth set victory. The Crusaders also led Cedarville in total team blocks with a 7-2 advantage.

Next on Capital's schedule is a trip to the challenging DePauw Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
