BOX SCORE HANOVER, Ind.- For a second straight game, the Capital women's soccer game has won a 1-0 match on the road, this time against Hanover on Saturday afternoon.
Junior midfielder Samantha Shaffer (Englewood, Ohio/Northmont HS) scored an unassisted goal during seven minutes into overtime to give the Crusaders (5-2-0) the victory. Shaffer notched her third goal of the season and now leads the Crusaders with three goals and eight points through seven matches. Senior keeper Erica Shannon (Whitehall, Ohio/Bishop Hartley HS) posted the shut out win by making six saves, as Capital outshot Hanover 18-10.
Capital is now 3-1-0 in games this season decided by one point or less, and have recorded four shut out wins this year. The Crusader defense has allowed one goal or less in six of the squad's seven games this season.
The Crusaders will head to Cincinnati Sunday for a 5:00pm match against Mount St. Joseph.
